A new campus in Gujranwala means new horizons in intellectual development, yet newer vistas of youth for seeking knowlede and an oppertunity to ignite the zeal of the young minds to make their mark in the world with distinction. A distinction that comes with acuiring a degree from Punjab University, the foremost seats of learning in Asia and acclaimed worl wide for its excellence in education through a highly esteemed faculty. The youth of Gujranwala will benefit from the stature that Punjab University enjoys world wide and have an educational envoironment that is at per with any university of the world. I congratulate the people of Gujranwala, not for having Asia's largest university open its campus in the city which in itself is a matter of extreme pleasure but for the sole reason that now Gujranawla youth will be able to contribute significantly to the country's greatest progress.

It is a momentous occasion, a rejoicing of the fact that a world of oppertunities will open to the youth of Gujranwala city that come with quality education. Quality education imparted at Punjab University that has sent into the world men who have made their mark in every field. I have full hopes in the capabilities of the youth of this city and hope these are justified by the achievements in the future, bu these determined young people. The future holds promise.

The Punjab University is the oldest seat of higher education in Pakistan which is unsurpassed in its vintage grandeur, long and brilliant academic traditions and its prepetuation of "Old is Gold" status in providing high standard yet afordable education. Its name truly reasonate in every nook and corner of the country for producing many reputed brains.

The establishment of Punjab University Gujranwala Campus is a hallmark in the history of Gujranwala. It is a major step towards the educational uplift of this industrially and commercially progressing city. Keeping in view the socio economic importance of Gujranwala and the fast imerging global trends, the university has decided to offer Masters and bachelors courses in the disciplines of Information Technology, Business Administration, Law and Commerce. The academic programs are rigorous and career oriented. All these programs aim at providing intellectual prowess, including exuberant professional skill and, above all, generating leadership qualities. I am confident that the youth of Gujranwala and suurounding will be benifited form the rich academic environment and will contribute remarkably towards the national progress and technological advancement in future.

It gives me immense pleasure to welcome you as an aspirant to becoming a student of this prestigious university. With it you will be becoming a part of its glorious history of over a hundred and twenty three years. It was long being felt that the university should make new campuses, so that people from lesser privileged areas could benefit from them. What had never been done in so many years has been brought to reality by the devotion and hard work of the Honourable Chancellor, Governor of Punjab Lt.Gen.(R) Khalid Maqbool and by our respected Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mujahid Kamran, indeed one of the best, if not the best, Vice-Chancellor the university has ever been privileged to have. The students especially of this area should consider themselves very lucky to have been delivered with a golden oppertunity of getting quality education right at their doorstep. Now there will be no need for them to travel to other cities, spend lots of money on hostel facilities for the education which they can now receive without leaving their homes.

It has been decided to start B.Sc.(Hons. in Computer Science), M.I.T., B.B.A.(Hons.), M.B.A., L.L.B., B.Com. and M.Com. classes this year. We will soon Insha Allah open other disciplines like Pharmacy Research Centre, Total Quality Management and many more. This will hopefully cater fully to the needs of our business and industry I believe in hard work, devotion and continous struggle.
